Governor general's Innovation Awards

About the Governor General’s Innovation Awards

Launched in 2016, the Governor General’s Innovation Awards inspire, recognize, and celebrate exceptional Canadian individuals, teams, and organizations whose innovations improve quality of life, build a more compassionate and inclusive society, and drive positive change. Up to six award winners are selected annually through a merit-based evaluation process, with official ceremonies held each May.

This Award honours breakthrough achievements across all sectors, including social impact, health, education, business, and community development. Nominees must be living Canadian citizens or permanent residents whose innovations are actively creating social or economic impact.

Administered by the Rideau Hall Foundation in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General, the GGIA relies on a national network of official Nominating Partners to identify and recommend candidates. As a designated partner, GROW submits nominations for transformative Canadian innovations, helping elevate grassroots and community-driven initiatives to the national stage.

Official Nomination Window: September 16 - November 19, 2026

To allow for time for us to process all applications, please submit your nomination request below, by November 12th at 11:59pm. GROW's submission committee will rank submissions based on three core criteria: Inspiration, Leadership, and Impact.
